‘Ang taxi driver at ang mga street vendor sa buhay ni Alfie Lorenzo’

PAALAM tito Alfie Lorenzo.

The last we were together was June 21. We were in walang-tulugan kind of way. We went to eat at Aristocrat at 11 p.m. at sa bait mo, pinakain mo pa ang taxi driver who refused to eat dahil busog pa siya. At hind mo pinababa ang metro ng taxi, ha, while we were eating kaya naman tuwang-tuwa ang taxi driver sa ‘yo.

Paglabas namin ng resto, you bought P2,000 worth of laruan at tuwang-tuwa ang mga vendors sa ‘yo.

Then, when it was bye-bye time, tandang-tanda ko huli mong sinabi sa akin, “Uuwi ka na ba? Hindi mo na ba hihintayin?” sabay abot ng P1,000 sa akin para pang-taxi ko.

‘Yun na pala ang last nating pagkikita.

I was formally introduced to tito Alfie by my writer-friend Arnel Ramos. But the first time he called me was during a Christmas party sa ABS-CBN. I remember you saying, “Ikaw pala si Alex Brosas.”

Then, tito Alfie called us for a presscon kay Faith Cuneta. The rest of his calls and text were for chikahans sa kanyang condo.

“Text mo ako pag nandito ka na dahil di ko madidinig fone call ng guard nasa bedroom kasi ako.”

That was your June 21 text to me. Before the June 21 bonding, I remember having dinner with tito Alfie sa Ka Tunying last June 12, Independence Day, after which we went to ABS-CBN to deliver mammon to Bro. Jun Banaag.

I had a great time with tito Alfie. He shared with me his showbiz stories, his life, his wisdom.

Paalam tito Alfie. Thanks for your generosity. You will be remembered.
