INAMIN ni Pangulong Duterte na hindi niya inaasahan na makakasama ang mga pinakamagagandang babae sa mundo matapos namang mag-courtesy call ang 84 sa kabuuang 86 na mga kandidata ng Miss Universe sa Malacanang.
“Before I proceed, I’d like to make an admission that never in my life I have been with a room full of beautiful women. This is either privilege and an honor and I hope that this day will never end,” sabi ni Duterte sa kanyang talumpati.
Binasa rin ni Duterte ang inihandang talumpati, taliwas sa kanyang nakagawian.
“I usually do not read my speeches. I am not up to it really but this time because they told me that I must behave in my language, in the adjectives that I would be using to characterize or define your beauty, all of you,” ayon pa kay Duterte.
Hindi naman nakasama sa courtesy call sina Miss switzerland at Finland dahil masama ang pakiramdam.
Nagpasalamat din si Duterte sa Miss Universe organizer matapos magdesisyon ganapin sa bansa ang 65th Miss Universe pageant.
“And I must say that God is really good. Aside from the worries of governance, with all the troubles in the world, when we look at you, we forget the universe, but only you,” ayon pa kay Duterte.
Idinagdag ni Duterte na nagbigay ang pagkakataon ng karangalan sa Pilipinas.
“More than presenting beauty and brains, the Miss Universe competition or any beauty contestant for that matter is an opportunity for you to represent your country, to promote your advocacies, and to advance women empowerment to a greater audience,” sabi pa ni Duterte.
Nagpalitrato pa ang mga kandidata kay Duterte.
