SSS pension adjustment

Dear Ma’am,

Maybe you can help me on my concerns with SSS. I do have pension adjustment or differential which SSS must pay the undersigned due to the following reasons:

1. Right now, I am in dire need of fund for my medication and possible operation of my prostate. I have no other resources.

2. I already sent a letter to Mr. Emelio De Quiros Sr., SSS President and CEO, on May 23, 2016 regarding my concern. I am not sure though if this was acted upon.

3. The pension adjustment or differential was long overdue. The total amount I am entitled was an accumulation for about 8 years (from 2008 to 2016). Portion of 1986 to 1990 contirbutions were not posted due to breakdown of SSS computer system.

4. It took 8 years (from 2008 – 2016) for SSS to establish my credited years in service by way of manual verification.

As a backgrounder, herewith, are the chronology of events how I discovered that I should be paid more than what I am receiving now.

1. On January 31, 2008, I filed my retirement with SSS but SSS failed to notify that there was a computer system failure and they failed to post and account my credited years in service from 1980-1990, thus, I presumed everything was in order.

2. On April 2016 or exactly 8 years after my retirement, out of curiosity, I computed my pension, and I was confused. Because of this, I visited SSS, and acting on the suggestion of the SSS Front Desk Officer, I personally wrote Mr. Rizalito Alberto C. Deleon, the Davao SSS Head per my letter of April 9, 2016 but my letter was endorsed to Ms. Jeanette A. Makig-angay, Department Ma-nager of SSS Processing Center who replied to me per her letter dated April 18, with details.

Not satisfied, I again wrote Ms. Jeanette A. Makig-angay a letter asking her how she was able to establish my credited years in service of 31.75. No reply was made, which prompted my to go directly to her office. There I learned that SSS failed to consider my credited years in service from 1986 to 1990 due to computer system failure. She further briefed me that SSS was doing a manual verification. She advised me, too, that SSS Manila was already working for possible awarding by July 16, 2016.

3. Because I badly need the fund, I personally wrote to Mr. De Quiros, asking to him to take action on my concern. No reply was made.

4. June 2, 2016, I wrote again to Mr. Rizalito Alberto C. Deleon the Davao Branch SSS Head for him to follow up with Manila but he advised me to just wait. He said, they have already received a memo from Manila that they are now in process of adjusting my pension and would posibly release it by mid July 2016.

I have waited too long. This process is taxing and agonizing on my part. I hope they could act on my concern soon enough.

I am counting on what President Rordigo Duterte’s pronouncement that any government transaction must be done with dispatch, maybe by about 72 hours at most. Thank you.

Very truly yours,

REPLY: This refers to a letter regarding the pension adjustment of Mr. Tomas G. Servidad of Davao City as a result of the manual verification of contributions from 1985 to 1989.

We wish to inform Mr. Servidad that SSS has started paying the pension adjustments of qualified retiree-pensioners. Based on our record, his monthly contributions from 1985 to 1989 are already posted. As of August 2016, Mr. Servidad has a total of 407 monthly contributions amounting to P182,293.50. Since Ja-nuary 2008, when he star-ted receiving a monthly pension from SSS, the total amount of pension granted to him as of August 2016 amounts to P906,159.94.

After the manual verification, the number of Mr. Servidad’s credited years of service has increased from 32.75 to 35.75 and his monthly pension also increased from P8,218.39 to P8,942.37. He will start receiving his adjusted monthly pension starting September 2016. The pension differential will also be deposited to his bank account.

We have sent the notice letter containing information on the total amount of pension adjus-ted based on reposted contributions, months covered, withdrawal date, and the adjusted pension amount to Mr. Servidad.

We appeal for the understanding of Mr. Servidad that the manual verification took more than a year to process because it required examining and digging through all his contribution records from 1985 to 1989 to ensure that all of his SSS contributions in the aforementioned years are properly posted in our system.

We hope we have cla-rified this matter. Thank you.

Sincerely yours,
May Rose DL Francisco
