WALANG propesyonal na manlalaro ang isasama sa koponan ng Pilipinas sa sasabak sa Fiba Asia Challenge Cup na isasagawa simula Setyembre 9 hanggang 18 sa Tehran, Iran.
Sinabi ni Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) deputy director for international affairs at Gilas team manager Butch Antonio na pipili sila sa mga naimbitahang collegiate players sa tryout para bumuo ng koponan.
Nais ng SBP na ang koponang bubuuin nila ngayon ang lalaban para sa bansa sa 2019 World Cup sa China. Dumalo sa unang araw ng praktis sa Meralco gym kahapon ang mga dating Gilas cadet na sina Roger Pogoy, Russelle Escoto, Mac Belo, Mike Tolomia, Von Pessumal, Almond Vosotros, Gio Jalalon, Ed Daquiaog at Kevin Ferrer.
