WATCHED “Ma’Rosa” with a friend. We were excited to know why Jaclyn Jose won as best actress at the Cannes Film Festival.
As a mom who peddled drugs to make both ends meet, Jaclyn pulled off a far-from-perfect performance. She got arrested because a young costumer tipped the police about her drug peddling activities. At the precinct, she and her husband Julio Diaz went through interrogation.
The movie put the police officers in a bad light. Kaliwa’t kanang korupsyon ang ipinakita sa movie. Ewan lang kung nakatulong ito para ipakita sa buong mundo na there are corrupt police officials. Ewan lang kung ikagaganda ng image ng ating bansa ang ganitong pelikula.
Although okay naman ang kanyang performance, hindi kami masyadong nagalingan kay Jaclyn dito. Parang may kulang sa kanyang acting. Hindi namin masyadong nadama ang emosyon na dapat makita sa isang inang posibleng makulong because of drugs. She clearly lacked angst.
Underacting ang ipinakita ni Jaclyn sa movie. Sorry but she lacked the needed emotions. And the ending of the movie was not shocking as many perceived it to be. Ewan kung paanong ang pagkain niya ng fishball gave her the greatest performance of her life to merit a Cannes best actress.
As we can see it, Jaclyn’s acting is all FORM and a little SUBSTANCE!!!
