SA wakas, opisyal nang miyembro ng Philippine Coast Guard ang Kapamilya hunk actor na si Gerald Anderson. Isa na siyang squadron lieutenant ng K-9 Search and Rescue Team ng PCG. He was inducted by the PCG officials last Monday together with his father Gerald Anderson, Sr. (captain) and brother Ken Anderson (lieutenant).
Kasabay nito, nakipag-tie up din ang Gerald Anderson Foundation (The How To Be Yours) sa PCG K-9 Search and Rescue units. “Medyo malaking responsibility pero we’re happy kasi it’s a good partnership na nagtutulungan kami,” ani Gerald sa panayam ng ABS-CBN.
Sa ngayon, meron nang limang trained dogs ang foundation ni Gerald na magiging bahagi ng 16-K-9 unit ng Coast Guard, “Sa Japan, they have 250 teams and we have 16 for the whole Philippines. So kapag may nangyaring mas malaki and with just 16 teams so parang wow!” sey ng aktor.
Dugtong pa niya, “Ang kinakatakutan natin ngayon eh ang The Big One. Di ba nag-shake drill tayo? So what if that happens ‘di ba? I’m throwing all my energy into something positive. It inspires me to live and to work.” Hirit pa ng binata, “We’re very thankful, sobrang surreal rin ng experience ko kanina kasi pangarap ko talaga pumasok sa military. Parang kanina natupad ang pangarap na ‘yun. Nakakatuwa!”
Bilang lieutenant, “Ako ang in charge sa search and deployment at sa lahat ng equipment. Practically lahat because this is my baby eh, so malaki ang responsibility because they look up to me for leadership.”
