Derek: Never akong sasabak sa politika, nakaka-stress!

Hinding-hindi papasukin ni Derek Ramsay ang politika pagkatapos niyang gawin ang pelikulang “My Candidate” kung saan kasama niya sina Shaina Magdayao at Iza Calzado.

Sa presscon ng pelikula kamakailan, sinabi ni Derek na marami siyang realizations after doing the movie, kaya aniya, “I will never get involved in politics after this movie.” Gagampanan ng aktor sa “My Candidate” ang karakter ni Congressman Sonny Suarez, na gustong maging senador.

“It’s really a stressful life. I think you have to be 200 percent committed and passionate about public service or giving back to the people. “If you’re doing any of these charity work, politics is totally different. There’s a positive side to it, there’s a negative side to it.

There’s a lot of dirty tricks, like in the campaign. “Sa campaign mismo, it’s so stressful how to connect with your people to convince them na ikaw ang iboto. At the same time, kahit alam mo na hindi ka corrupt, it’s frustrating na yung mga iba, iba pa ang iboboto,” paliwanag ng hunk actor.

Natutunan din daw ni Derek sa movie ang mga ginagawang gimik at strategy ng mga kandidato tuwing eleksiyon, “Yung mga baho ng tao nilalabas, ine-expose, to the point na ang dami nang nilalabas, kaya di mo na alam kung ano yung totoo.

“So it’s so hard to vote kasi everyone has something to say to the other one. The best, probably, is to have a sit-down like this (interview) and say kung ano ba talaga ang plano mo sa bansa. “For me, that’s the best way to gauge.

Unfortunately, we can’t do that. Not everyone has the opportunity to sit down in front of a candidate,” aniya pa. Sa ngayon, wala pa siyang napipiling kandidato para sa gaganaping eleksiyon sa May 9, pero aniya, “Just like before, I like to keep that private.”

Marami rin daw lumapit na politiko sa kanya para mag-endorse pero lahat ay tinanggihan niya, “I will endorse someone without being paid if I strongly believe in that person. “For me, it’s like vote-buying if I get paid, even if I support the candidate, you bought my vote,” pahayag pa ni Derek.
