FINALLY ay ipinalabas na via a special screening ang pinakaaabangan naming pelikulang “Pare, Mahal Mo Raw Ako” sa UP Cine Adarna kagabi and whew! Sobrang proud ako sa alaga nating si Michael Pangilinan na nagpakitang-gilas sa akting.
Hindi siya nagpahuli sa husay sa pagganap nina Edgar Allan Guzman, Ana Capri, Matt Evans, Joross Gamboa, Katrina “Hopia” Legaspi, Nikko Seagal Natividad, Malou Crisologo, Miggy Campbell and Superstar Ms. Nora Aunor.
Nakaka-in love ang galing ng lahat – walang tapon ang pelikula. Congrats kay Direk Joven Tan who did not just direct the film but wrote the story and the song “Pare, Mahal Mo Raw Ako” as well na naging super hit after Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs 2014.
Tawa, iyak, kilig – yes, mararamdaman mo ito sa kabuuan ng pelikula. Hindi ka mabu-bore at ang ganda ng mensahe nito. Fast-paced, hindi pretentious, suwabe and tama ang timpla – these are some of the adjectives na narinig namin from the moviegoers about the movie and everyone waited for Michael and Edgar Allan for photo-ops.

Present din siyempre ang mga friends natin from LGBT community, our co-producers Capt. Ernie Moya and Tito Fred Sibug, my dear friend Boy de Leon and nephew Douglas Brocklehurst, members of the Michael’Overs and Michael Pangilinan Official fan clubs, GANAP and other Nora Aunor supporters, and the fans of the other cast members too and many of our friends. Sobrang overwhelmed kami sa support po ninyo.
What made the movie really enjoyable ay yung truthfulness and simplicity ng istorya and how Direk Joven executed it. Sana mapanood ito ni Manny Pacquiao dahil dito niya matutunghayan ang mga members ng third sex at patutunayan nila na hindi po sila mas masahol sa hayop and never will be. Ha-hahaha!
Anyway, hindi echos ito pero matino talaga ang movie, not because we are directly involved in its production – you have to watch it yourself for you to find out. Kilala niyo naman ako, pag chaka ang movie, kahit kasama kami sa paggawa ay hindi ko ipagmamalaki.
Maaaring hindi ko sisiraan pero hindi na lang ako kikibo. But this time, it’s truly a wonderful movie and a MUST-SEE one kaya ako maingay. Ha-hahaha! Abangan ninyo once it opens this March sa mga sinehan to be distributed by Viva Films.
Maganda ang story about love and friendship between a man and his gay bestfriend, between a man and a woman, between a tibo and a woman, between friends and love for all. Nandoon na lahat pero hindi forcing through.
Puwede naman palang magmahal ang lalaki ng isang gay friend unconditionally na hindi kailangang magkababuyan tulad ng akala ng marami. It’s a nice eye-opener sa mga marurumi ang isip, sa mga minamaliit ang kakayahan ng mga bading na magmahal nang tunay.
Ganda ng mga twist sa kabuuan ng pelikula. Nakakatawa ang punchlines nina Joross and Matt – sobrang aliw. Naging instant fan din ako ni Edgar Allan Guzman – I fell in love with him after I watched the movie.
Lalo rin akong naging prouder sa anak kong si Michael Pangilinan dahil naibigay niya ang nararapat na acting for his role. Perfectly enough and the kilig that his audience expected ay naitawid niya. And shall I say – this is Direk Joven Tan’s best work ever.
Sa dami ng mga naging projects ni Direk Joven Tan for decades already, I must say na dito ako naantig sa lahat. Galing ng pag-execute niya, hindi OA. Malinaw ang mensaheng ipinarating niya. Hindi sugar-coated. Bravo, Direk Joven!
Napapapanahon ang pelikulang ito – sa gitna ng debate on gays and same-sex marriages – well, it’s something you must not miss. “Pare, Mahal Mo Raw Ako” is no longer just a song, it can be remembered as a remarkable movie after you’ve watched it.
It will not happen to Michael often – yung pag-aarte because hindi naman iyan ang packaging ko sa kaniya. He will just remain to be a singer – a performer. Kung kailan ito masusundan, kung kailan ko siya papayagang umarte ulit ay hindi ko pa alam.
Iba pala pag ang pelikula ay matino, ‘no? Lahat ay nagri-rave about it. Now I understand more kung bakit suplado ang audience natin. Naunawaan ko lalo kung bakit hindi sila gaanong interesado sa mga local films dahil may hinahanap silang timpla sa pelikula na tama lang sa kanilang panlasa.
At itong “Pare, Mahal Mo Raw Ako” ay sakto sa timpla kaya tiyak na magiging box-office hit ito. And hopefully, humakot din ng awards.
