Batang Pinoy finals bubuksan sa Cebu

ISANG bonggang pagbubukas ang ihahain ng host Cebu City ngayon para sa national finals ng 2015 Philippine National Youth Games-Batang Pinoy sa Cebu City Sports Complex. Aabot sa 5,000 katao ang magtatanghal sa ’Grand Palabas’ umpisa alas-3 ng hapon.
Puntirya ng Cebu City na maipagtanggol ang overall championship na nakuha ng koponan noong isang taon sa Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.
Kumulekta ng 52 ginto, 41 pilak at 45 tanso ang Cebu City para biguin ang pumangalawang Baguio City na may 26-22-15 kartada at ang pumangatlong Zamboanga City na may 26-7-28 medal tally.
Isa pang pinupuntirya ng Cebu City ay ang makapagtala ng Guiness Book of World Records sa pagsasagawa nito ng world’s largest arnis class presentation sa closing ceremony ng naturang palaro sa Disyembre 2.
“It will be a great highlight in what we expected to be a highly competitive and exciting battle between the champions in all of our qualifying leg against the athletes of host Cebu that are seeded for hosting the national finals,” sabi ni PSC National Games chief

Samantala, umabot na sa 1,943 atleta ang nagparehistro sa siyam na sports na magsasagawa ng national finals sa event na ito at madadagdagan pa ito sa patuloy na pagdating ng mga delegasyon mula sa iba-ibang lugar sa bansa.
Inaasahang darating din ang mahigit 2,847 atleta na nagkuwalipika sa mga isinagawang Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao leg sa palarong ito na para sa mga atletang edad-15 anyos pababa.
Ang siyam na sports na dito magsasagawa ng national finals ay ang mga sumusunod: beach volleyball, cheerleading, cycling, handball, pencak silat, rugby football, soft tennis, triathlon at wushu.
Ang iba pang sports ay nagsagawa ng elimination legs sa Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao. Ang mga ito ay arnis, athletics, badminton, basketball 3-on-3, boxing, chess, dance-sport, futsal, karatedo, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, volleyball, wrestling at weightlifting.
“We strongly believe that our kids will show their talent and skills because they know that sports are good vehicle for them to reach their dreams. Most of them came from not so affluent families and a lot of them wanted to join because they want to give back the opportunity that their city has given them and for the others,” sabi ni Cebu Batang Pinoy overall chairman Edward Hayco.
