Ex-cong na sangkot sa pork barrel scam; gustong makadalo sa kasal ng anak

Naghain ng mosyon sa Sandiganbayan Fifth Division si dating APEC Rep. Edgar Valdez upang makapunta sa kasal ng anak na lalaki.
Si Valdez ay nahaharap sa kasong plunder, isang non bailable offense, kaugnay ng pork barrel fund scam. Siya ay nakakulong sa Camp Bagong Diwa sa Taguig.
“Per Filipino custom and tradition, the father and mother of the groom will walk their son up the aisle to the altar,” ani Valdez. “To enable the herein accused to have this privilege to practice this norm and purely for humanitarian consideration, it is respectfully prayed of the Honorable Court to give the accused a furlough.”
Sa kanyang mosyon, hiniling ni Valdez na makalabas sa Disyembre 27 mula 12 ng tanghali hanggang 10 ng gabi. Ang kasal ng anak niyang si Renjo ay gagawin sa Mary The Queen Parish, Greenhills, San Juan City.
Matapos ang kasal gagawin ang reception sa Manila Peninsula, Makati mula 6:30 ng gabi.
Ayon sa whistleblower na si Benhur Luy si Valdez ay may codename na ‘Kuryente’ sa kanilang listahan. Si Valdez ay dating representative ng Association of Philippine Electric Cooperatives.
Umabot umano sa P57.787 milyon ang kickback na natanggap ni Valdez mula sa paglalagay ng kanyang pork barrel fund sa mga non government organization ni Janet Lim Napoles.
