P2K dagdag pensyon sa mga SSS retirees lusot na sa Senado

INAPRUBAHAN ng Senado sa ikatlo at pinal na pagbasa ang panukalang batas na naglalayong madagdagan ng P2,000 ang buwanang pensyon ng mga retiradong miyembro ng Social Security System (SSS).

Tanging si Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile ang bumoto laban sa panukalang batas.

“…While we are going to favor present beneficiaries, the cost of this generous grant of across-the-board benefit or additional to their benefit, in the end, it (SSS) will be bankrupted because this is a contributor system and not a social security system or funded by the national government,” sabi ni Enrile.

Sa kabila ng pagkontra ni Enrile, inaprubahan ng mga senador ang House Bill 5842 o ang Social Security Act, na naglalayong amyendahan ang section 12 ng Republic Act 1162 o ang Social Security Act of 1997.
