SSS pensioner’s non-appearance

Liza Soriano - November 04, 2015 - 03:04 PM

HI, I’m Meg of Valenzuela City.

My concern is about my mother-in-law. She is the one claiming for the SSS pension benefits of my father-in-law, who died five years ago.

Just this October 2015, my mother-in -law was not able to claim her October pension due to non-appearance to the SSS.

My question is, if my mother-in-law will go to SSS office for appearance this October 2015, when will she receive her October pension? Then, what is the process of making an appearance to the SSS? Is it monthly, quarterly or what? Can you enlighten me on this?

Thank you

Meg Boquirin

REPLY: This refers to the query of Ms. Meg Boquirin of Valenzuela City.

According to Ms. Boquiren, the monthly pension of her mother-in-law was suspended due to non-appearance to SSS.

We would like to inform Ms. Boquirin that SSS pensioners and survivor pensioners are required to comply with the Annual Confirmation of Pensioners (ACOP) Program which is done once-a-year to ensure continuous eligibility of SSS pension.

The ACOP aims to ensure that only rightful be-neficiaries get the SSS pensions. Every pensioner is required to make a perso-nal appearance at the depository bank where he or she receives his or her pension or at the nearest SSS branch once a year, particularly on the birth month of the member.

We want to emphasize that failure to undergo ACOP is a ground to suspend the pension of the pensioner. Thus, the non-compliance of her mother-in-law to undergo ACOP resulted to the suspension of her monthly pension.

For survivor pensioners like her mother-in-law, the ACOP schedule is on the birth month of the deceased SSS member. Pensioners should submit the accomplished ACOP form to the nearest SSS branch or their designated depository bank. The ACOP form is downloadable at the SSS website, www.sss.gov.ph. The pensioner should also present the SS card or two valid IDs.

Meanwhile, pensioners who are under confinement or unable to walk due to medical conditions, can request SSS for home visits. Requests for home visit can be sent to the nearest SSS branch or through email at [email protected].

On the other hand, suspended pensions due to non-compliance with ACOP take at least two months to be reinstated due to the advance processing of monthly pensioners. Pensioners who have complied with ACOP will receive the full amount of pensions withheld in the past months upon the resumption of their monthly pension.

We hope we have cla-rified the matter. Thank you.
Sincerely,
