Ex-MMDA chair Tolentino inasunto sa ‘Playgirls’ scandal

NAGHAIN ng reklamo sa Office of the Ombudsman ang Gabriela partylist at iba pang women’s group laban sa nagbitiw na si Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino kaugnay ng ‘twerk scandal’ sa Laguna kamakailan.
Inireklamo si Tolentino ng paglabag sa Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (RA 6713) at Magna Carta of Women (RA 9710).
“We cannot just allow perpetrators of such brazen acts and raunchy displays of machismo, disrespect and discrimination against women to go unpunished,” ani Gabriela Rep. Emmi de Jesus.
Sinabi ni de Jesus na hindi sapat ang pagbibitiw ni Tolentino para maabsuwelto siya sa kaso.
“(Tolentino committed) gross misconduct that is corrupt, unprincipled, reprehensible, shocks the community’s sense of decency, offends the dignity of women and perpetuates or encourages the commodification of women, thus, making them liable under the law,” saad ng reklamo.
Dapat umanong isama sa reklamo ang mga opisyal ng Liberal Party na nasa lugar partikular ang mga nakapuwesto ngayon sa gobyerno.
“It is not an excuse that the Liberal Party officials, candidates and members were not seen participating in that highly scandalous performance. It is enough that they have allowed such performance and this is tantamount to encouraging and condoning such acts that violate the rights of women.”
Wala umanong nagtangkang ipahinto ang performance ng Playgrils noong Oktobre 1 kaya ito ay pagkonsinte sa hindi magandang nangyayari.
