NAHIRAPAN man sa umpisa ng laro ay natambakan pa rin ng Gilas Pilipinas ang India, 99-65, para sa ikalimang sunod na panalo sa 2015 FIBA Asia Championship kahapon sa Changsha, China.
Halos dikitan lang ang labanan sa first half at nakalayo lamang ang Gilas Pilipinas sa third quarter sa pangunguna nina Terrence Romeo, Marc Pingris at Jayson Castro.
“It was a tough game today and we expected a tough game,” sabi Gilas coach Tab Baldwin. “We were kind of flat in the first half and again, their zone (defense) contributed to that. But again our energy guys kind of got us through that first half, and as a team, we found a lot of energy in the se-cond half.”
Anim na Pinoy ang gumawa ng 12 puntos pataas sa pangunguna nina Romeo na may 20 puntos at Andray Blatche na may 15.
Pumutok din mula sa three-point area ang Gilas na nakagawa ng siyam sa 26 attempts. Pumasok ang dalawang tira ni Castro sa tres para magtapos na may 12 puntos at si Romeo ay may tatlong triples at tumira ng perfect 5-of-5 mula sa free throw line.
Dahil sa panalo, tinapos ng koponan ang Group E bilang number one team na may 4-1 baraha.
Ang tanging kabiguang natamo ng bansa ay laban sa Palestine, 75-73, sa unang laro nito sa torneyo.

Makakasagupa ng Gilas Pilipinas sa quarterfinal round ang No. 4 team ng Group F na Jordan o Lebanon.
Ang magkakampeon sa torneyong ito ay mabibigyan ng silya para sa 2016 Rio Olympics.

Nanalasa rin si Castro sa 87-73 panalo ng bansa kontra nagdedepensang kampeong Iran noong Lunes kung saan gumawa siya ng 26 puntos.
