Warrant, HDO vs Tupas

Naglabas ng warrant of arrest at hold departure order ang Sandiganbayan Fifth Division laban kay dating Iloilo Gov. Niel Tupas Sr., at tatlong iba pa kaugnay ng kasong graft na kinakaharap nito dahil sa sobrang bayad sa kuryente.
Bukod kay Tupas kasama sa kaso sina Iloilo provincial accountant Lyd Tupas, assistant department head ng office of the provincial accountant Sandra Bionat, at general services department head Ramie Salcedo.
May nakitang sapat na batayan ang korte upang maglabas ng arrest warrant at inutusan ang Bureau of Immigration na huwag palabasin ng bansa si Tupas.
“After a careful assessment of the records, the documents and other evidence submitted together with the information of the above-entitled case, the Court finds the existence of probable cause and so orders the issuance of a warrant of arrest against the accused,” saad ng korte.
Si Tupas ang ama ni Iloilo Rep. Niel Tupas Jr., chairman ng House committee on justice, at miyembro ng Liberal Party.
Ayon sa isinampang kaso sa Sandiganbayan, nagsabwatan ang mga akusado kaya nabigyan ng pabor ang Green Core Geothermal, Inc. na nabayaran ng labis na nagkakahalaga ng P4,007,111.91 mula Disyembre 2009 hanggang Abril 2010.
Nagbayad umano ang provincial government ng P5.88 milyong kuryente kahit na ang nakonsumo lamang nito ay P1.88 milyon.
