Philippine Patriots gun for No. 1 seeding in ABL
THE Philippine Patriots gun for the number one seeding and the homecourt advantage throughout the Playoffs when they face the Brunei Barracudas in the final elimination round schedule of the 1st ASEAN Basketball League at the Ynares Sports Arena is Pasig City.
The Barracudas, who are also in need of a win to boost their chances for the fourth and last ticket to the semis, will be parading a new import in Simon Conn of Australia to replace Michael Pilgrim.
Whether this move will help their cause against the heavily favored Patriots will be seen as the team co-owned by Dr. Mikee Romero and Tonyboy Cojuangco has been perfect in seven home games so far.
The Patriots also expect a better output from former PBA Best Import awardee Gabe Freeman who debuted with 21 points and 14 rebounds in the team’s 91-87 victory over the Thailand Tigers last Sunday.
That win also snapped Patriots’ two-game losing skid. — Mike Lee
