LEA Salonga unwittingly opened herself to bashing when she tweeted something about Independence Day.

A few hours before June 12, the world-renowned singer posted this message, “Our country is not yet debt-free, poverty-free, crime-free, or corruption-free. So what are we free from exactly and why do we celebrate it?”

Obviously, she was against celebrating Independence Day kaya kinukuwestiyon niya kung bakit kailangan pa nating i-

“No country is either debt-free, poverty free, or even crime free! Stupid opinions nowadays. *sigh*!”

“Duh? Are first world countries debt-free, poverty-free, or corruption-free?

“Maybe Ms. Salonga needs to re-read our long and tumultuous history then she’d have an answer.

We read a certain @dudeinterrupted on Twitter and his rants against Lea were very sensible. “I can give Lady Talangka Salonga a thousand reasons why we celebrate Independence Day but obviously she’s an unpatriotic bit***h.”

“America is not yet crime free, homeless free, corruption free yet they celebrate 4th of July. Gaga.” “Lea Salonga is a living proof why Filipinos are typically stereotyped as having crab mentalities! Lea Talangka Salonga! Yak!”

“We celebrate June 12 to inspire both present and future generations regarding fidelity and loyalty.” O, kaya mo bang sagutin ‘yan, Ms. Lea? Gusto naming marinig ang iyong aria!
