KUH LEDESMA AT MUSIC AND MAGIC
Natatandaan n’yo pa ba ang Music & Magic? In fairness, talagang sumikat nang bonggang-bongga ang grupong ito noong dekada 80 kung saan nagsimula ang ating Pop Diva na si Kuh Ledesma.
Nakasama ni Kuh sa Music & Magic ang ilan sa magagaling nating veteran singers and performers tulad nina Jet Montelibano, Fe delos Reyes-Mendoza, Eva Caparas-Benthall, Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano, Vicky Sevilla-Pangilinan, Toto Gentica, Hector Pedero, Butch Elizalde, Nonoy Mendoza, Bobby Taylo at Jeannette Casuga-Trevias.
And yes, matapos ang mahigit 35 years muli silang magsasama-sama sa isang reunion concert na magaganap sa Oct. 3 sa PICC Plenary Hall sa Pasay, produced by Viva Live.
Nagsimulang makilala ang grupo noong 1979, they changed the landscape of Manila’s lounge entertainment. Sila ang naging bukambibig ng mga Pinoy na mahihilig sa show band hindi lang dito sa Philippines kundi maging sa iba pang bahagi ng Asia. Music & Magic is also the band that catapulted the singing sensation Kuh in the music industry.
“It all started with original members Jet Montelibano and Toto Gentica who were then part of Bacolod-based musical group Banda Lastiko. During his MassComm internship at La Salle Bacolod, Jet traveled to Manila with bandmate Toto Gentica and ended up forming the Ensalada Band with newcomer Kuh Ledesma who was just about to try her luck in Manila as a fresh nursing graduate from Bacolod.
“The Ensalada performed regularly at Holiday Inn Hotel’s El Camarote alternating with another band, Family Birth Control, whose drummer then was M&M member Nonoy Mendoza. Soon after, Ensalada disbanded. Jet, Toto, Kuh and Nonoy got together to form a new group to be known as Music & Magic,” ayon sa grupo na naging Music & Magic with Kuh Ledesma. Ilang taon ang nakalipas, nagdesisyon si Kuh na magsolo na and the rest is history.
Sabi nga ng grupo sa ginanap na presscon para sa kanilang reunion concert entitled “Trending: Music & Magic The Reunion” recently, kung isa ka sa mga regular guest sa Alibi bar of the Regent of Manila, Tavern on the Square sa Greenbelt, Makati, the Peppermint Park and Atlantis in Singapore, or the Pyramid Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia noong dekada 80, ito na ang chance n’yo para balikan ang masasayang nakaraan.
