171K Pinoy apektado ng hacking ng Uber website

TINATAYANG 171,000 Pinoy ang apektado matapos ma-hack ang website ng Uber Technologies, Inc., na sinadyang itinago mula sa publiko ng mahigit isang taon, ayon sa isang opisyal.

Sinabi ni Raymund Liboro, head ng National Privacy Commission (NPC), na nakompromiso ang pangalan, e-mail address, at telepono ng mga driver at pasahero ng Uber.

Idinagdag ni Liboro na kinumpirma ng Uber Philippines, kung gaano kalawak ang ang nangyaring hacking.

“We were also informed that the exposure of the affected data subjects was limited to their registered name, e-mail address, and phone number,” sabi ni Liboro.

Sinabi ng Uber Philippines na tinatayang aabot sa 1.3 milyon ang aktibong miyembro ng Uber sa bansa.

“We are paying particular attention to the steps taken to ensure that in the future, data breaches of this magnitude will not be concealed from regulators and from affected data subjects,” sabi ni Liboro.
