Pagpapalawig ng martial law sa Luzon, Visayas nakadepende sa rebelde –AFP chief

Nakadepende sa mga armadong grupong sangkot sa rebelyon sa Mindanao ang pagpapalawig ng martial law sa Luzon at Visayas, sabi ni Armed Forces chief Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero, Biyernes. “‘Yung actions namin will also depend on the political sitiuation, and also the reaction of ‘yung adversaries namin, eh kung maging violent sila eh siguro the answer is obvious,” sabi ni Guerrero sa isang pulong-balitaan. Gayunpaman, iginiit ng military chief na malayo pa sa kanyang isip ang pagkonsidera sa ganoong hakbang. “Based on the information we have at hand, kinakailangan i-focus muna natin sa Mindanao. As for the other parts of the country, nobody can tell,” ani Guerrero. Ayon kay Guerrero, nakatuon ang isang taong extension ng martial law sa paggapi sa mga grupong may kaugnayan sa ISIS sa kanlurang bahagi ng Mindanao, at mga rebeldeng komunista sa silangan. “Right now, makikita natin with the upsurge of atrocities in Eastern Mindanao, we have started to put in more our forces doon,” ani Guerrero. Bukod sa paglilipat ng tropa, “posible” namang maglabas ang militar ng panibagong listahan ng mga taong aarestuhin para sa rebelyon, aniya. Matatandaan na sa unang pagpapatupad at extension ng batas-militar, nag-isyu si Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana ng dalawang arrest order para sa 324 kataong may kinalaman diumano sa rebelyon. “We are consulting with the other security forces for us to come up with a list of persons of interest that definitely we will be going after, as part of the martial law implementation,” ani Guerrero. Hihingi din aniya ang militar ng karagdagang pondo para sa isa pang taon ng pagpapatupad ng martial law. “We are using existing releases and of course we have recieved additional support for intelligence activities and other operaitons… we are planning to request additional support,” ani Guerrero.
