MAGANDANG araw po sa Aksyon Line. Palagi po kaming nagbabasa ng inyong pahayagan at batid naman na marami kayong natutulungan.
Isa pong OFW sa Saudi Arabia ang aking asawa. Siya po ay nagtatrabaho sa isang ahensiya ng government doon. Maayos naman ang kanyang sweldo pero nagigipit pa rin kami dahil mayroon kaming limang anak na puro mga babae at nag-aaral pa.
Nabalitaan ko po ang tungkol sa scholarship ng OWWA. Gusto po sanang itanong kung kahit matagal nang nag-open ang classes ay maaari pa bang makapasok sa scholarship program ang anak ko. Gusto ko rin sana na malaman ang mga requirements. Sana ay masagot ninyo ang aking katanungan.

REPLY: On going ang scholarship program ng OWWA at mas pinalawak ang programa para matulungan ang mga anak ng mga OFWs na maging scholar ng OWWA.
Pinapayagan na kahit nasa kalagitnaan na ng pag-aaral sa kolehiyo ay mapabilang sa scholar ng OWWA kumpara noon na dapat magsimula sa freshman college ang nagnanais na makakuha ng scholarshio grant ng OWWA.
Bukod dito pinalawak din ang coverage na mula sa $400 sa ngayon ay ginawa na itong $600 na pwedeng ma cover para sa lower income OFWs.
Bagaman may quota na 2,500 students per year subali’t hindi naman mapako sa nasabing bilang ng mga scholars lalo na kung mataas ang demand.
Mas pinadali rin ang pagproseso at sa loob lamang ng tatlong linggo ay maaari nang malaman kung naaprubahan para mapabilang sa OWWA scholars.
How to qualify for the scholarship:
Must be a child of a married OWWA member or brother/sister of an unmarried OWWA member
Must be 21 years old or below
Must be a Filipino citizen
Be in good health and with good moral character
Must have an average grade of at least 80% and belong to the upper 20% of the graduating class
What Are the Requirements:
Accomplished application forms (2 sets)
1″x 1″ ID pictures (2 copies)
Proof of relationship to Member (copy of Birth Certificate of applicant and of the Member if related as brother or sister duly certified by the Local Civil Registrar or NSO)
Form 137 or Transcript of Records with Principal’s Certification on Scholastic Standing
Proof of OWWA membership (i.e. Official Receipt of OWWA Contribution/Certification from OWWA Membership Processing Center)
Health Certificate attesting to physical fitness of applicant (Form)
Certificate of Good Moral Character issued by the School Principal/Guidance Counselor (Form C)
Certification that applicant belongs to upper 20% of graduating class issued by school principal (2 sets)
Statement of applicant that he/she has not earned units in any post-secondary/undergraduate course (Form E)
Sworn Statement that he/she has no pending application for resident immigrant status in any country and does not have dual citizenship signed by parent or legal guardians (Form F)
