MATAPOS na mangulelat sa unang dalawang conference ng 2016-17 season ay kasalukuyang humahataw ang NLEX Road Warriors sa PBA Governors Cup.
Papasok sa laro ng torneyo ngayon sa Ynares Center sa Antipolo City ay katabla ng NLEX ang Barangay Ginebra sa liderato ng liga na may parehong 7-2 kartada. At may pagkakataong maungusan ng Road Warriors ang Gin Kings sa team team standings kapag nabigo nila ang TNT KaTropa sa kanilang laro umpisa alas-7 ng gabi.
Bukod sa pag-angkin sa unang puwesto ay mabibiyayaan din ang NLEX ng twice-to-beat incentive sa quarterfinal round kapag natuhog nito ang ikawalong panalo ngayon.
“That’s the good thing with our situation right now – we know what we need to do to get a top four slot,” Guiao said. “Yes, this has been totally different from what we went through (in the first two tournaments of the year).”
Sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon sa loob ng mahigit walong taon ay hindi makakasama ngayon ng KaTropa ang beteranong si Ranidel de Ocampo na kanilang ipinamigay sa Meralco sa isang multi-player trade na kinasangkutan din ng Phoenix Petroleum. Nakuha naman ng TNT sa naturang trade si Justin Chua mula sa Fuel Masters.
Mangunguna para sa TNT ngayon sina Jayson Castro, Roger Pogoy, Troy Rosario, RR Garcia at import na si Glen Rice Jr.
Sasandal naman ang NLEX kina Larry Fonacier. Juami Tiongson, JR Quinahan, Alex Mallari at sa masigasig na import nitong si Aaron Fuller.
Sa unang laro, magsasagupa ang Rain or Shine at Phoenix dakong alas-4:15 ng hapon.
Puntirya ng Paintmasters na makapasok sa top four ng liga na may kaakibat na twice-to-beat incentive habang pipilitin naman ng Phoenix na mapatid ang seven-game losing streak nito ngayon.
