PH netters handa na sa paghataw

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Ready na ang Philippine tennis team na humataw simula ngayon sa 29th Southeast Asian Games sa National Tennis Centre-Sports Complex dito at tiwalang mahihigitan ang runner-up finish sa likod ng Thailand dalawang taon na ang nakararaan sa Singapore.

Dumating kamakalawa ang Philippine tennis squad sa pangunguna nina coaches Chris Salvador Cuarto at Czarina Mae Arevalo at ang mga pambato ng bansa na sina Francis Casey Alcantara at Jeson Patrombon na mga hahambalos sa men’s singles sa alas-12 ng tanghali sa araw na ito.

Sasalang din sa first round ng men’s doubles sa alas-4 ng hapon sina Alcantara at Patrombon.
Kasama rin sa men’s team sina Fil-Am Ruben Gonzales, Jr. at Albert Lim, Jr.

Mauunang mapapasabak sa women’s singles opener sina Fil-German Katharina Melissa Lenhert at Anna Clarice Patrimonio sa alas-10 ng umaga.

At tatapusin ng 8-player PH lawn netters ang abalang araw sa pagpalo rin nina Denise Dy at Khim Iglupas, pati nina Lenhert at Patrimonio sabay-sabay sa alas-2 ng hapon sa women’s doubles.

“Ready and raring to go na kami and I’m optimistic that we can surpass our second place finish in the medal tally two years ago in the Singapore SEA Games,” pahayag ni Cuarto, na walang sablay sa paghawak sa national team sapul sa Thailand noong 2007 SEA Games.
