Pilipinas sasabak na sa FIBA 3×3 World Cup

SASAGUPAIN ngayon ng Team Pilipinas 3×3 na binubuo nina Kobe Lorenzo Paras, Jeron Alvin Teng, Joseph Ronald Quiñahan at Kiefer Ravena ang seeded No. 7 Romania at No. 10 France sa pagbubukas nito ng kampanya sa FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2017 na ginanganap Hunyo 17 hanggang 21 sa Nantes, France.

Ang 19-anyos at 6-foot-6 na si Paras, 33-anyos at 6-foot-6 na si Quiñahan, 23-anyos at 6-footer na si Ravena at ang 23-anyos na may taas na 6-foot-3 na si Teng na bitbit ang 18th seed na Pilipinas, ang tanging koponan sa torneo na walang natipong ranking sa kompetisyon.

Una nitong makakatapat ang Romania na binubuo ng 24-anyos at 6-foot-6 na si Baragau Cezar kasama sina 21-anyos at 6-foot-5 Marius Ciotlaus, 30-anyos at 6-foot-7 Bogdan Cezar Sandu at 5-foot-11 Mihai Vacarescu.

Sunod na makakasagupa nila ang France nina 34-anyos at 6-foot-6 Charles Bronchard, 29-anyos at 6-foot-5 Dominique Gentil, 21-anyos at 6-foot-2 Charly Pontens at 33-anyos at 6-foot-2 Angelo Tsagarakis.

Huli nitong makakatapat ang Slovenia at El Salvador bukas, Hunyo 20.

Ipagtatanggol naman ng Serbia ang korona sa men’s division at Czech Republic sa women’s division matapos tanghaling kampeon sa Guangzhou, China noong nakaraang taon. Asam din ng Serbia ang ikatlong world title sa apat na edisyon.

Ang top two team kada pool sa men’s at women’s division ay makakakuha ng direktang tiket sa quarterfinals. Sunod na dito ang knockout rounds at kukumpletuhin ng finals sa Miyerkules, Hunyo 21.

Ang men’s category ay binubuo sa Pool A ng Serbia, Russia, Andorra, Egypt at Puerto Rico. Nasa Pool B ang Slovenia, Romania, France, El Salvador at Philippines. Nasa Pool C ang Poland, Ukraine, Estonia, Qatar at Sri Lanka habang nasa Pool D ang USA, Netherlands, New Zealand, Indonesia at South Korea.

Wala naman koponan ang Pilipinas sa women’s category kung saan nasa Pool A ang Hungary, Germany, Russia, Kyrgyzstan at Kazakhstan habang nasa Pool B ang France, Switzerland, Spain, Turkmenistan at Venezuela. Nasa Pool C ang Netherlands, Ukraine, China, Japan at Australia at nasa Pool D ang Italy, Czech Republic, Argentina, Bahrain at Andorra.
