Dating senator Leticia Ramos-Shahani pumanaw na

PUMANAW na  si dating senador Leticia Ramos-Shahani, 87, ayon sa kanyang pamilya.

Noong isang buwan, napaulat na ipinasok siya sa intensive care unit (ICU) ng isang ospital sa Taguig.

Ipinost ng kanyang anak na babae na si Lila kahapon ng umaga na pumanaw ang dating senador ganap na alas-2:40 ng umaga.

“Bereft and full of grief, but still strangely peaceful in the knowledge that she is now free from all suffering,” sabi ni Lila Shahani sa kanyang Facebook.

Si Shahani ay kapatid ni dating pangulong Fidel V. Ramos.

Nagsilbi siya sa foreign service sa loob ng 20 taon at itinalaga bilang  United Nations Secretary General for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs. Naging Philippine ambassador to Australia, Romania, Hungary at West Germany bago siya itinalagang  Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs at Chairperson ng National Commission on Women.

Nanalo siya bilang senador noong 1987 elections at pinamunuan ang committee on foreign affairs, education, culture and arts, agriculture at appointments.

Tatlo ang kanyang anak sa yumaong  Ranjee Shahani, isang dating professor at writer.
