May pag-asa pa kayang makabalik ang mga showbiz talk show sa tv?

Ronnie Carrasco III - December 10, 2016 - 12:25 AM

IS showbiz talk on TV an extinct genre?

Kung ang creative team ng isang istasyon ang tatanungin ay malayo pa nilang tanggapin that gone are the days of showbiz-oriented talk shows.

In hindsight, isa-isang nangawala ang mga ganitong panoorin in the beginning of 2015.

First to go ang Showbiz Police sa TV5, sinundan ng The Buzz noong Abril at buwan naman ng Setyembre noong sibakin sa ere ang Startalk.

Why all three programs went off air one after another ay dahil—as perceived by many—sa dominance ng social media that before anyone can access free TV or flip through entertainment pages in print ay nakahain na sa publiko ang balita the fastest way it can.

Pero tulad ng creative team na aming binanggit, it embraces the belief that there’s hope for a showbiz talk program to survive in the competition, regardless kung saang channel ito mapapanood.

To us, it makes sense. May mga kuwento kasi sa showbiz which are best feasted on and savored on free TV given the limitations din sa social media.

Halimbawa na lang ay ang face-off sa pagitan ng mga nagbabangayang celebrity, say, Baron Geisler and Ping Medina but not necessarily both physically present at the studio.

Alinman sa tatlong sinibak nang programa could achieve this. What’s more, may separate moment din si direk Arlyn dela Cruz with the issue culminating in the PAMI stand.

Is all this achievable on social media where news stories come on an “installment basis”? Pang-supplement, yes, but we will have to go back to the rudiments.

Nilapatan ng angkop na scoring, may effects pa to heighten the mood taking a viewer to a rollercoaster ride of emotions, will the material create as much impact on Aling Tacing if seen on social media?

Certainly not. Ilan ang bilang ng mga Aling Tacing sa ating paligid? Mag-headcount ka yata ng pinagsanib na mga pro at anti-Marcos invoking their right to assembly ay ‘yun si Aling Tacing.

When the creative team insisted on the rebirth of showbiz talk shows on TV, the idea simply fell on deaf ears.

Even if times are constantly evolving ay iba pa rin kung ang mga bumabangka sa likod ng balitang showbiz ay mga (in no particular order) Boy Abunda, Cristy Fermin, Butch Francisco at Ricky Lo.
