De lima hindi pa rin tinatantanan ng minorya sa Kamara

Natapos man ang pagdinig ng House committee on justice sa paglaganap ng operasyon ng ipinagbabawal na gamot sa New Bilibid Prison, hindi pa rin tinitigilan ng mga miyembro ng minorya sa Kamara de Representantes si Sen. Leila de Lima.
Nais ng minorya na pinamumunuan ni Quezon Rep. Danilo Suarez na sampahan ng anim na kasong kriminal si de Lima na siyang kalihim ng Department of Justice ng maging talamak umano ang operasyon ng droga sa NBP.
“The minority believes that the affidavits of key witness reveal that Senator de Lima may be prosecuted,” saad ng dissenting opinion ng minorya na ipinadala sa Justice committee.
Kabilang sa nilabag umano ni de Lima ang mga section ng Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, Code of Conduct and Ethical Standard of Government Officials and Employees, Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act at Bribery.
Naniniwala ang minorya na hindi lalabagin ng Kamara ang doktrina ng separation of powers kung magrerekomenda ito na sampahan ng kaso si de Lima, na bahagi ng Gabinete ng maganap ang sinasabing krimen, at bahagi ngayon ng lehislatura.
“In an earlier landmark case, the Supreme Court had already recognized that the doctrine of separation of power does not mean that the co-equal branches of government are totally distinct and separate from each other, such that they are to be treated as existing in air-tight compartments wholly disconnected from one another.”
Hindi nagrekomenda ang komite sa DOJ ng listahan ng mga dapat kasuhan at sinabi na gagawa ito ng batas upang hindi na muling maulit.
Ayon sa mga testigong humarap sa komite, naging talamak ang bentahan ng droga upang makalikom ng pondo na ginamit ni de Lima sa kampanya.
