Mga senador nagbabala kay Duterte matapos ang pahayag na pakikipagkalas sa US
BINALAAN ng mga senador si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa implikasyon ng pakikipagkalas sa Amerika, sa pagsasabing dapat pinag-aralan at pinag-isipan muna ito.
“Any drastic shift in our foreign policy direction should be well-thought-out and not simply blurted out. It should be a product of deep study and wide discussion. Because of its far-reaching implications, it cannot be an announce now, study later thing,” sabi ni Senate Minority Leader Ralph Recto.
Ito’y matapos ihayag ni Duterte sa kanyang state visit sa China na kakalas na ang Pilipinas sa pakikipag-alyado sa US.
“Yes, our relations with the United States may not be perfect. But a country which has illegally built a great wall of sand in our seas is not, and far from, the epitome of a good friend either,” dagdag ni Recto.
Sinabi naman ni Sen. Joel Villanueva na tiyak na may negatibong epekto ang naging pahayag ni Duterte sa ekonomiya ng Pilipinas partkular sa sektor ng IT at BPO, na kung saan nagresulta sa 1.1 milyong trabaho at $25 bilyong industriya.
“The President doesn’t have to choose between the US and China in terms of economic partnership. We should be more careful and thoughtful in making pronouncements. The President represents the country and his statements become the policy,” sabi ni Villanueva.
Kontra rin si Sen. Grace Poe sa naging desisyon ni Duterte.
“We should maintain old bridges as we build new ones,” sabi ni Poe.
Binatikos naman ni Sen. Leila de Lima ang naging desisyon ni Duterte.
“It’s one thing to keep your Cabinet members in the dark – which is deeply troubling in itself – but it’s a whole level of betrayal to keep that from the Filipino people, and to announce it for the first time in front of foreigners,” ayon kay de Lima.
Si de Lima ang numero unong kritiko ni Duterte.
“Huwag mong ibenta ang mga Pilipino sa idelohiyang tatalikod sa minamahal nilang kalayaan at demokratikong pamumuhay sa ilalim ng ating Konstitusyon. Nangako kang tatalima sa Konstitusyon, do it. You have no right to put yourself above the sovereignty of the people. Hindi ka Diyos,” ayon pa kay de Lima.
