Komite may report na sa NBP probe, pero laman secret muna

Inaprubahan na kahapon ng House committee on justice ang ulat nito kaugnay ng isinagawang pagdinig sa bentahan ng ipinagbabawal na gamot sa loob ng New Bilibid Prison.
Pero hindi pa umano maaaring isapubliko kaagad ang laman ng 17-pahinang report ayon kay Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali.
“The committee report on House Resolution No. 105 is hereby approved,” ani Umali matapos ang viva voce voting. “Makikita ninyo sa report namin kung ano ang lalabas na iyan. Hindi pa lang namin puwede i-divulge at this point in time. Kailangan ma-calendar muna.”
Dalawang araw nagsagawa ng executive session ng komite bago napagbotohan ang ulat.
“No committee report, an excerpt, or summary statement of the contents thereof or any publication related thereto shall be released by any member of the committee and in-secretariat staff, prior to the inclusion of the report in the calendar of business,” dagdag pa ni Umali.
Kung pagbabasehan naman ang manifestation ni Ako Bicol Rep. Alfredo Garbin mababanaag na hindi pinagbigyan ang nais ng mga miyembro ng minorya na irekomenda ang mga dapat na kasuhan kaya naging talamak ang bentahan ng ipinagbabawal na gamot sa loob ng NBP.
“There should be identification of definitive culpability of those accountable officers who are involved in the proliferation of drug trade in the Bilibid. The position of the Minority is it is necessary to identify those officials and personalities,” ani Garbin. “The recommendation must arrive at the prosecution of the accountable officers. We find this conspicuously absent in the recommendation.”
Ayon sa mga testigo ang bentahan ng droga ay ginawa upang makalikom ng pondo para sa kandidatura ng noon kay kalihim ng Department of Justice na si Sen. Leila de Lima.
Paulit-ulit naman itong itinanggi ni de Lima.
Isang subcommittee naman ang binuo— ang Sub Committee on Prison Reforms na pamumunuan ni Misamis Occidental Rep. Henry Oaminal— upang magsagawa ng imbestigasyon sa riot sa NBP na ikinasawi ni Tony Co at ikinasugat ni Jaybee Sebastian.
