Pinag-iisipan ng lider ng Kamara de Representantes na tuluyan ng buwagin ang Sangguniang Kabataan sa halip na ipagpaliban lamang ang eleksyon nito sa Oktubre.

Ayon kay House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez pinag-aaralan na rin na alisin ang eleksyon ng barangay kagawad at palitan ang mga ito ng purok lider.

“We are considering the abolition of SK because I think it is no longer right,” ani Alvarez. “We might as well get rid of it because all of the sectors are represented anyway. In fact, we already have a party-list congressman for youth in Congress. So, they’re well-represented already.”

Sinabi ni Alvarez na ang mga kagawad ay hindi nagtatrabaho katulad ng barangay kapitan kaya tinitignan nila kung tama na alisin na rin ang mga ito.

“We are also eyeing the abolition of kagawads, because the truth is they don’t really work. The ones who are very hardworking are the barangay captains,” ani Alvarez. “We have to fix this, we have to fix the country and we have to change this system.”

Ang panukala ni Alvarez ay magkaroon na lamang ng mga purok lider na nakaka-alam ng nangyayari sa kanikanilang lugar.

“Let us put things in the proper order. Under the Duterte administration, we have to rationalize the functions of government,” dagdag pa ng lider ng Kamara.

Ayon kay House committee on suffrage and electoral reforms chairman at CIBAC Rep. Sherwin Tugna magsasagawa sila ng pagdinig kaugnay ng pagpapaliban ng barangay elections sa Oktobre.

Kung matutuloy ang eleksyon sa Oktobre, hindi na rin makakapag-appoint si Duterte ng mga bagong opisyal sa gobyerno dahil sa dalawang buwang election ban.
