John Lloyd-Bea kilig movie mas mabenta pa rin kesa sa AlDub

KUWENTU-KUWENTO lang naman ito na aming nasagap, puwedeng may tinge of truth or fallacy. But one thing’s for sure, our sharp sense of hearing wouldn’t betray us.

At the risk of getting attacked and harmed, worse killed, by a few (inuulit namin, iilan lang naman sa kanila ang barbaric) diehard AlDub fans, totoo nga bang below box-office standards ang kinita ng pelikula nina Alden Richards at Maine Mendoza? Titled “Imagine You And Me”, please don’t imagine it’s also me and you lang ang nagkukuwentuhan over what could be a disappointing box-office aftermath. Everybody’s talking about it anyway.

Ayon sa aming kausap na bumabangka sa umpukan, the first two or so hours of screening on its opening day ay kumita nang P12 million ang pelikula. Pero nu’ng sumahin na raw ang gross take nito sa kabuuan ng araw, it yielded a sum total of P15 million, which means, tatlong milyong piso lang ang nadagdag sa kita. The commercial run on the succeeding proved even more heartbreaking. Pabawas na raw kasi nang pabawas ang bilang ng mga manonood.

Isang artistang nakapanood nito (who requested anonymity) ang nagsabi that in fairness, panalo raw ang cinematography nito. Aba, dapat lang na pulido ang texture nito considering that the scenes were shot in Leonardo da Vinci’s land, it would be so sayang naman if the historic landmarks and eye-popping attractions would escape cinematic capture.

Ikinumpara ng aming source ang AlDub movie sa isang typical John Lloyd Cruz-Bea Alonzo film that no matter how trite the plot can be, it doesn’t fail to elicit kilig moments in the audience, young and old. So, below expectations ang kinita ng AlDub movie? Well, it is sending a very clear message. Kung ramdam ang climate change sa buong mundo, there is also an evident change (read: downsurge) in AlDub’s popularity standing.

At kapag ganitong hindi na nga kasing-init ang AlDub based on takilya results, contingency measures must be put in place. Wonder, ano kaya ang “maine” reason?
