PH nanalo sa arbitration case vs. China kaugnay ng South China Sea

IDINEKLARA ng United Nations (UN) Arbitral Tribunal na pag-aari ng Pilipinas ang West Philippines Sea (South China Sea) at hindi ng China.
Ipinalabas ng Tribunal ang desisyon nito kahapon matapos ang ilang buwang pagdinig at pagsusumite ng mga dokumento. Hindi naman nakilahok ang China sa buong pagdinig, sa pagsasabing hindi nito kinikilala ang kaso.
“The Tribunal concluded that there was no legal basis for China to claim historic rights to resources within the sea areas falling within the ‘nine-dash line.’” sabi ng Tribunal sa pahayag na ipinalabas.
Idinagdag ng Tribunal na nilabag ng China ang sovereign right ng Pilipinas.
“Having found that none of the features claimed by China was capable of generating an exclusive economic zone, the Tribunal found that it could—without delimiting a boundary—declare that certain sea areas are within the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines, because those areas are not overlapped by any possible entitlement of China,” ayon pa sa Tribunal.
Sinabi pa ng Tribunal na kabilang sa mga nilabag ng China ay ang panghaharass nito sa mga mangingisdang Pinoy at pagpigil sa petroleum exploration ng Pilipinas, pagtatayo ng mga artificial island at pagkabigong pigilan ang mga Chinese na mangingisda na pumasok sa teritoryo ng Pilipinas.

“The Tribunal further held that Chinese law enforcement vessels had unlawfully created a serious risk of collision when they physically obstructed Philippine vessels,” ayon pa sa Tribunal.
