HANGAD ng bagong halal na Partylist Congressman na si Dr. Mikee Romero ang kumpletong pagbabago sa kalakaran ng sports sa bansa hindi lamang sa mga pasilidad kundi pati na rin sa liderato ng Philippine Olympic Committee at ng mga national sports associations.
“Change should come now,” sabi ni Romero, sa pagdalo nito sa lingguhang Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) forum kahapon sa Shakey’s Malate. “It is about time. May time na sila to inflict changes pero nalubog pa tayo.
We were on top in the region before but now nasa ibaba na tayo at malapit na tayo unahan ng Laos at Cambodia. We are calling on them to give way to the new sports leaders. If possible a complete bloodbath,” dagdag pa ni Romero.
Aniya, una muna niyang tututukan ang pagtatayo ng mga makabagong sports facility at Olympic Training Center pati na rin ang pagpapasa ng batas na magtutulak para sa pagbubuo ng Department of Sports.
“Baby steps muna tayo,” aniya. “We need to start na ang ating mga atleta kung magsasanay ay dapat din na kapareha sila ng pagsasanay ng kanilang mga nakakalaban at hindi iyung napag-iiwanan sa pasilidad.”
