DOJ sinuportahan ang tax exemption, karagdagang benepisyo para sa PWDs

SINUPORTAHAN ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang panukalang batas na naglalayong dagdagan ang mga benepisyo para sa mga persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Sa isang posisyon, sinabi ng DOJ, sa pamamagitan ni Assistant Secretary Adonis Sulit na suportado ng kagawaran ang panukala na i-exempt ang PWDs mula sa Value-Added Tax (VAT).

“So that the PWD may be able to fully enjoy the 20 percent discount afforded to them,” sabi ng DOJ.

Kasabay nito, sinuportahan din ng DOJ ang karagdagang probisyon na nagbibigay ng 20 porsiyentong diskwento para sa mga professional fees ng mga doktor, funeral at burial services para sa mga PWDs.

“By providing the additional benefits and privileges to the PWD, it is recognizing the difficult situation of the PWD, the need to promote and protect their human rights, including those who require more intensive support,” dagdag ng DOJ.

Nilinawag naman ng DOJ na bahala na ang Department of Finance (DOF) kung susuportahan ang panakulang batas.
“We note that the grant of tax exemption will have implication on the revenue collection of the government. This is a matter within the competence of the DOF and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)…,” ayon pa sa DOJ.
